Residential stair lifts can be either in a person’s own home or in a residential home for the elderly perhaps.
Ideally when you have one of these stair lifts in your own home it enables you to stay in your comfortable family home for as long as possible.
Actually it is very cost effective if you want to look at that aspect as well. It certainly costs a great deal less to have residential stair lifts installed than it would cost for a care home.
Plus how much nicer to be able to stay in the surroundings that you love.
It may be that you actually live with one of your family and they are thinking of getting one of these stair lifts installed for your comfort and security.
Not only would it give you greater mobility it would ease their mind as to your safety. Once you had become used to the use of the lift they would feel that they could leave you to your own devices.
This would be very good for the morale of the elderly person. Sometimes when you grow older and perhaps a bit infirm you get to feel as though you have to be cared for as though you were a child again. Whilst the love and caring is very nice, it sometimes can be a little depressing to know that you are no longer independent.
Residential stair lifts give someone who might not be elderly but suffers from some disablement either permanently or temporarily, full mobility as regards the stairs.
If the person needs the use of a wheelchair the lift will bring them downstairs and turn the seat so that they are positioned correctly to be able to reach their wheelchair in safety.
If your stairs are not completely straight up and down but perhaps have a small quarter landing at the top which leads to an extra couple of stairs leading off to the right or left, a small platform can be installed which will come down and bridge the gap and allow you to walk straight onto the landing beyond.
You don’t need a hugely wide staircase to be able to have a stair lift fitted, in actual fact 27″ is all that is needed and this will allow even a 6′ tall person sitting down, the ability to traverse the stairs.
Obviously straight stairs are a lot easier to fit and less expensive than a curved staircase. If you have a curved staircase then the track has to be custom made to suit the particular curve of your stairs.
This makes them more expensive granted, but it also means that although your stairs are curved it is no deterrent to your having the comfort and security of the likes of residential stair lifts to make your life easier.
