You might want to contact your local church or school to see if they would know of any local organizations that might be able to help you raise the money for your daughter's lift. You might also contact community groups or organizations like the Shriners to see if they would be able to help. I don't know where you live so it would depend on how big of a city you live in to know what kind of services (other then just government) are availible to you. You might also want to check on the internet to see if there are any groups that could help. I found one:

Is there a Catholic Social Services department where you live? They give funds to people in need-I had a friend who was late on her rent, went to them, and got $1,500. I don´t think she had to pay them back.

try and hire a function room at a well known local pub or club near where you live. let your neighbours know(if they are friendly and ask them to bring family along. let entry be a reasonable cost- £2.00 each or so and then have a buffet with nice food and do like an auction but on rubbish things so you don't spend too much money and the person who guesss it's price has o pay that money.

Move to a one level home or install a cheap bath in her downstairs bedroom?

Ask your pastor to see if the church could have a fund raiser to help pay your portion of the stair lift. If you don't have a church to help, check with local service clubs to see if they may help with a fund raiser. God bless.

You could Raise money for the multiply charity funds, or you could try and get an apartment with no stairs to make it easier to get around for your daughter? Or get in touch with a social services provider to help with the upbringings of money?

See if your daughters school or the local church also want2 get involved, and be4 you know it the cash should be rolling in.

Check with the charities that are focused on your daughters disabilities and see if they can help you out. Also, many community and social organizations will run charity events for this sort of thing, check with your local social groups like the Elks or Shriner's. Ask your church. There might be something at your husband school, or perhaps he can ask if his work has a program to help in these situations.

Stop expecting the government(actually your neighbors, the taxpayers) to take care of your child. I am not being cold hearted but your tone seems to imply that you think someone else is responsible for raising your child and providing what you need. You and your husband made the choice to have a child, and the child you have is your responsibility, period. There were no guarantee's that you would have a healthy child, there never are. You sound like you are all working hard for your daughter, but still its not anyone else's fault that you have to shoulder some of the costs. And you could also looking into providing a bathing area downstairs, perhaps a seated shower. This isn't a problem that's going away, you might also want to consider moving to a home that is more usable for the needs of your daughter.

Can she get anything from Social Security? How about from the Department of Social Services? If she has special needs, does she have a worker that might know of any places to help?
Do you have a church that you go to? Maybe they can have a fundraiser for you?
